Meet Angela!
I believe in building community through equity, collaboration, and kindness
Being of service to others is a core value of mine. I’ve lived this through my work as a foster parent and social worker, supporting some of our most vulnerable children and families. Serving as a school board director is a natural extension of my commitment to our community and a role that will benefit from my perspective and experience.
My family has lived on the Eastside for over two decades and I’m proud to educate my children in the Lake Washington School District, who have attended many different schools from elementary through high school. We’ve participated in music programs and athletics, explored alternative high school pathways, and navigated the complex world of special education services. I’ve been an active member of the PTSA at many schools and was a substitute teacher during the pandemic. I currently volunteer with Pantry Packs and the Lunch Buddy mentor program.
Supporting teachers, students, and families is essential for our district to thrive, adapt and evolve. As your school board director, I will work to ensure all voices are heard and that district policies reflect the diverse needs of our community.

Priorities
Mental Health
Supporting the mental health of students and staff is essential to supporting their success in our schools. We live in a district known for its academic rigor and competitiveness. This brings opportunity but it can also create real pressure and stress. In the 2023 Healthy Youth Survey, over one in ten adolescents in the LWSD reported to have seriously considered suicide in the last year.
I’m committed to making youth mental health a priority by advocating for trauma-informed practices in our schools. I’m encouraged that these conversations are already underway in our district and will continue pushing to ensure these practices are embraced in all school environments.

Reducing Financial Barriers
Nearly 10% of the students in our district come from low-income households. If families don’t have what they need at home, it becomes incredibly difficult for students to focus, learn and thrive in the classroom.
Students from low-income backgrounds often face systemic barriers that impact their educational outcomes. I’m committed to removing obstacles that prevent families from accessing help. This means partnering with the incredible community organizations already doing this work and listening directly to families themselves. What do you need? How can we help?
When schools and communities work together, everyone benefits.
Personalized Pathways
One of the things I love most about the Lake Washington School District is the variety of options available to students and families. We’re not all meant to follow the same path—and that’s what makes our community vibrant and dynamic. I’m committed to supporting the many unique journeys our students take by helping families better understand the incredible opportunities our district provides.
These options begin as early as elementary school with choice programs and parent partnerships, and extend through high school with programs like Running Start and WANIC. While many students benefit from these pathways, too many families are still unfamiliar or unclear about what’s available.
Let’s change that! Through clear, consistent, and inclusive communication, we can ensure that every family can make informed decisions about their child’s education.
